Bracelet Making Mania

A few months ago, a good friend introduced me to a missionary family to Ethiopia who was home in the states on furlough – Carmen and Trent Post. Check out their ministry here. Anyway, Carmen was selling leather bracelets for a young Ethiopian single mom who lived with them in their home in Ethiopia. The young mom had taken up selling leather bracelets as a means to support her baby. The bracelets were super cute, and I bought two for myself which I wear often.

Soon afterward, I started experimenting to see if I could figure out how to make something similar, but different, on my own. I figured if what I came up with was cute enough, we could sell some to friends and family as another fundraiser for the adoption fund during. Our thought was that if you were going to spend 10 or 20 bucks on a Christmas gift for a friend, you may as well make it count for a good cause!

Like with every crafty project I’ve undertaken, my mom came to my aid. We watched how to videos on youtube, bought all of the necessary tools, and ravaged a leather store near my office in Ybor for the coolest scrap leather we could find. All of the girls in the family joined in, and we’ve been spending every Saturday handcrafting these genuine leather, trendy treasures.

The bracelets will range in price from $10 – $25. We’re hosting three different parties for ladies to have snacks, chat, and Christmas shop among our collection of cute bracelets.

Please join us at one of our upcoming jewelry parties! If you live out of town or can’t make it, select bracelets will be available for online purchase after the parties in late November.
